I can do anything with determination and God.

Updated: Feb 28, 2019

BIBLICAL POINT OF REFERENCE:

"Entrust your works to the LORD, and your plans will succeed."

~Proverbs 16:3

What is it about those people that can’t seem to give up? No matter what life throws at them, from incurable diseases to homelessness to insane family problems, how do they not give up? How do they stay so strong?

I have to believe that there is something, no—someone, who is telling them to stay afloat when they are drowning. There is someone telling them that they will not sink if they rely upon the strength of the Almighty to hold them up.

I’ve given up so many times. I still do. Over and over again. I’d like to think that I am more motivated than resorting to giving up, but the truth is, I don’t let God have enough control of my life to stay optimistic. I don’t give Him the steering wheel. I don’t offer up my days and nights to Him who can save me. I don’t see the reasons for my sufferings, whatever they may be, and because He won’t tell me outright what those reasons are, I try to fix it myself.

But I’m so tired of carrying myself, especially when I don’t have to. I can do anything with determination and God. So why don’t I let go and let God? Why don’t I relinquish the control that means too much to me? Why don’t I rely on God’s wisdom to keep me motivated and burning with love for the world?

Sure, giving up is easier. It’s easy to pity ourselves. It’s easy to say that we’ve had enough. It’s easy to think we’re alone. It’s even easy to deny that God is there. But it doesn’t change the fact that He’s still here. And it certainly doesn’t change the fact that we can do anything with determination and with Him.

We can do this. We can stay strong. We can fight for the optimism that God provides. We can allow ourselves to let Him carry us when we want to give up. And just like everything else, it’s hard to do if we don’t let Him help us.

We know we can do anything with determination and God. With God. Only with God. Only with God can we stay afloat. Only with God can we find hope. Only with God.
