And I Will Give You Rest

BIBLICAL POINT OF REFERENCE:

"'Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.'"

~Matthew 11:28-29

Eating food, watching TV, looking at pictures, listening to music, taking a shower, singing, and hanging out with friends. These are all things that I find comforting to do when I am feeling down or I miss my family or I'm just tired. Often the drag of life can get to us, and so we look for comfort in different ways; some of my ways are listed above, but there are other ways that people look to find comfort. Yeah, I'm talking about not so good things, like drugs, alcohol, sex, etc. The point of trying to find comfort is to make us feel better, but those kind of things only bring about minimal and fleeting pleasure, not something that lasts. What is something that does last, you might ask? You've probably guessed it: God. God will provide comfort and rest to all who ask for it and seek His love. Something I should have included in my list is visiting a church or praying. These things may seem small and unfulfilling at first, but the effect that God has on me and everyone else is astonishing. Do not look for comfort in the ways of the world - rather, look closely at the light God provides for you! Your Laughing Sister, Callahan
