Envy is a Deadly Sin

BIBLICAL POINTS OF REFERENCE:
"For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every foul practice."
~James 3:16
"No trial has come to you but what is human. God is faithful and will not let you be tried beyond your strength; but with the trial he will also provide a way out, so that you may be able to bear it."
~1 Corinthians 10:13
My sister Grace and my mom took a trip to St. Louis this week to look at a school Grace might want to go to for college. While eight hours in a car doesn't seem very exciting, I know for a fact that they were having a lot of fun; shopping, sight-seeing, and getting some quality mother-daughter time. I'm glad Grace got to see a potential college for herself, but I have to admit that I am so envious that she got to go on a trip to such a cool place with my mom.
Did you ladies know that envy is one of the seven deadly sins? Like the first biblical point of reference points out, jealousy leads to disorder. I think that especially when you have siblings, jealousy and envy are more common than not, and it's hard to remember that it is a sin when we believe we are receiving the short end of the straw. No one wants to be thrown down with the "life isn't fair" line either! I now want to direct your attention to the second biblical point of reference: "No trial has come to you but what is human. God is faithful and will not let you be tried beyond your strength; but with the trial he will also provide a way out, so that you may be able to bear it." I know envy is hard to snap out of, but you read that verse correctly: God will provide you with a way out! He's given you the necessary tools to let that envy go.
So my challenge for you ladies today is to find those tools and get yourself out of the envy you hold in your heart. Envy is a deadly sin, and the weight it holds could cause more disorder and foul practice than you realize. Remember: with God, anything is possible.
