Foundation Starts With CHRISTmas

BIBLICAL POINT OF REFERENCE:

"Then Hannah spoke up: 'Excuse me, my lord! As yo live, my lord, I am the woman who stood here near you, praying to the LORD! I prayed for this child, and the LORD granted my request. Now I, in turn, give him to the LORD; as long as he lives, he shall be dedicated to the LORD.' Then they worshiped there before the LORD."

~1 Samuel 1:26-28

I feel naturally obligated to write SheCanLaugh's article this week on Christmas, as we are only four days away from the coming of Jesus in the manger! So listen carefully ladies, because we are discussing how our foundation starts with CHRISTmas! All week I've had "One Shot" by the Newsboys stuck in my head, particularly the bridge: "Are we scared to stand out from the crowd, make a difference in our own town. If we stay silent with our voices now, the rocks will cry out - Believers let me hear you shout!" When I read this reading, my first thoughts were that of foundations, or rocks, of families. Most people think of the parents as the foundation of a family, but we know it is God who is the foundation of everything. And what does this foundation do for us? He provides us with new living entities that will one day carry on that foundation in their own families. What a gracious cycle we have been given! But this cycle can only continue if we choose to accept Him as the foundation of everything. That being said, abortion is only one issue that stands in our way: things like divorce and turning away from the faith hinder our understanding of God as our rock.

At this time of year, we are so close to seeing the start of God's earthly foundation--Jesus. We are so close to seeing once again the power of family and undying faith. Our goal for Christmas this year should be to praise the foundation from which our beliefs, our refuge, and our salvation stands. So my challenge for you ladies this week is to bring about Christ for CHRISTmas. The best gift you can give anyone is the gift of faith in our Lord, even if it may be the hardest. Remember your foundation, and remember your strength: Jesus. Your Laughing Sister, Callahan
