God's at the Center

BIBLICAL POINT OF REFERENCE:

"That is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one body."

~Genesis 2:24

I often look at my parents' marriage and think, "That is what I want my future marriage to be like someday." They just love each other so much, and something that always amazed me is that because they both understand what God wants in a marriage, they will never doubt or leave each other. I never had to worry that they were going to get a divorce or split up in general.

Now that I'm getting older, I can't help but think about my future husband. As my mom jokingly said to me, the next person I have a relationship with could be the one. I don't really want to think of it like that, but hey, thanks Mom. However, it is the reflection on my parents' marriage that makes me hopeful for my own future marriage; to find a person that loves God more than he loves himself or me. I guess I just want to make sure that other girls are getting that message--the message that God has to be the center of a marriage in order for it to really work. I will say that it is rare to find two people so willingly dependent on God's graces that the marriage is what it is supposed to be, but it is not impossible.

So I am praying for all of you to find good husbands that love the Lord, and, in the meantime, that you ladies pray for him as well, so that you may also enter such a relationship with God at the center of it. May God's peace and grace be with you! Your Laughing Sister, Callahan
