God Stands With Me When I Stand With Him

BIBLICAL POINT OF REFERENCE:
"The voice said to me: Son of man, stand up! I wish to speak to you."
~Ezekiel 2:1
The feeling of an outsider is well-known to almost everyone, and despite the cries of "No one understands me!", it remains that we all understand each other when we feel left out, whether that be due to our beliefs, our likes and dislikes, and even our faith. Sex. Drugs. Alcohol. Partying. Abortion. Divorce. LGBTQ rights. These are are all topics that have landed me on the outside of discussions with other people, and I can't tell you how hurtful and amazing if feels at the same time to disagree with the majority of the world's beliefs on these types of issues; hurtful because it saddens me when people don't see the glory of God right in front of them, and amazing because I know God stands with me when I stand with Him. But the fact of the matter is, we, as daughters of Christ, are called to stand on the outside, waiting for others to find the truth and join our circle. And I know how frustrating that task is - it makes me so angry sometimes! Why, oh why, can't people see the straight and yet so narrow path that God is calling us to? Why? That's a rhetorical question - don't answer it. The varying answers to that question that first popped into my mind aren't very nice, to tell you all the truth. See? I'm still struggling too. I'm still struggling to accept my role on the outside. But God stands with me when I stand with Him, even if that means we're standing on the outside. My challenge for you all is to stand on the outside with me. I know I'm not alone, but it does feel like it sometimes when everything tangible that surrounds me is spitting lies in my face. Let's help each other stay strong. Let's stand on the outside together. Your Laughing Sister, Callahan
