Happy Girls Are the Prettiest

BIBLICAL POINT OF REFERENCE:
"Find your delight in the LORD who will give you your heart’s desire."
~Psalms 37:4
There was one thing I asked God to give me over my winter break: to give me a safe and happy time at home. The only thing that I wanted to be while I was home from school was happy. Well, God is so good, and I am very happy to say (pun intended) that I have indeed had a very safe and happy break from school. I've gone shopping (several times), watched TV, listened to music, read a couple of books, visited my twin sister, spent time with friends, and I even got to sit down and color in my princess coloring book (yes, they exist and they are fantastic)! I don't believe I have ever been more thankful to God, because He knows just how much being happy this Christmas has meant to me. While that's all fine and good, I have recently realized that not only did I ask God to give me a happy break, but I was determined to have a happy break. I was determined to get along with my family and relax while not in school. I think that, along with my prayer to God, being determined to make this a happy break has made all the difference. I began to see the small things that our Lord gave me to help me be happy. Noticing when God has given you something just to make you smile or laugh is choosing to wear your happiness proudly.
One of my favorite quotes is from Audrey Hepburn, who said that "Happy girls are the prettiest." I love this quote so much that I have even put it as my laptop sticker, where a lot of people have either told me that they like it or that they don't get it. I even had one person tell me that they didn't like that quote because sad girls can be just as pretty as happy girls.
Let me be the first to say that all girls are beautiful, especially in their own way that God shaped them. But being a happy girl makes a difference. Being a happy girl is choosing to love the imperfections that you possess because you are made whole through God. Being a happy girl is choosing to laugh instead of being sad. Being a happy girl is choosing to rejoice in God's marvelous light, for He has made all things perfectly. For me, Audrey Hepburn's quote represents my choice to be happy and my choice to let God work through me. I am not perfect, and I make more mistakes than I can count, but at the end of the day, I want to choose happiness over despair. I want God to help me do that. That's why I've named this website SheCanLaugh - I want the world to know that they can choose to laugh, they can choose to smile and be happy.
My challenge for you ladies today is to choose happiness. Choose to let God work miracles through you. And please choose to smile and laugh! You are the daughters of a King - what could be happier?
