Side Notes About Dating

BIBLICAL POINT OF REFERENCE:
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, on your own intelligence do not rely; in all your ways be mindful of him, and he will make straight your paths."
~Proverbs 3:5-6
I know this subject doesn't come up often, but hey, this is a website for ladies, so the discussion of boys has to be brought up at least occasionally. Maybe you've all heard before that you should only date people you can see yourself marrying; I grew up with this idea, and I still believe in it--strongly. Why? Because I guess I don't see a point in only dating someone for fun, or for kicks, or because they're cute, or for whatever the minor reason may be. I think that because of this belief that many Catholic and Christian girls have, we tend to not date as much. That's not a bad thing in any way--it's just different from the cultural norms. So when we do start dating, my sisters, we need to be sure of a couple of things:
1. Don't rush into anything. There is no reason to rush a relationship with the first guy that asks you out or the first guy that shows an interest in you. Wait for God to work in both of you, and then move forward.
2. There should always be communication. This is extremely important; if you are confused or questioning anything in a relationship, it is your job to work it out and communicate through it. No communication will lead to mixed signals, and eventually someone could get hurt in the relationship. If you're not sure what to make of something in a relationship, ask God to guide you to the right path.
3. Guard your heart, but let God open it up when the time is right. You may be unsure of a pending relationship, or you may be scared to enter into a commitment like a relationship, and that's okay. Just be aware of when God is trying to open your heart to the right person so that you don't miss him! As always, I am here for you ladies with any questions, concerns, or prayer requests!
