The Numbing Season

BIBLICAL POINT OF REFERENCE:

“Do not be afraid of anything that you are going to suffer. Indeed, the devil will throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will face an ordeal for ten days. Remain faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”

~Revelation 2:10

Sometimes you just feel numb.

It’s like you have so many feelings stirring inside of you that your brain just goes blank, and you just exist. You don’t know what to do, say, eat, drink, or think. So you just go through the motions, waiting for something to click again. You sit around, you try and find something entertaining to do, and you attempt to process what’s going on in life.

But you just feel numb.

As you could imagine, this makes writing that much harder. That’s why I write what I know, and that’s why I write through my emotions—but sometimes I just go numb. Sometimes I don’t know how to put into words what I’m feeling, because I honestly don’t know how I’m feeling. And sometimes I can’t express just how much I’m hurting, because I’m frozen in this season of numbness.

What’s amazing is how God breathes you back to life when you feel that way. It doesn’t happen all at once. It doesn’t even happen relatively quickly. But He gives you just enough hope to let you know that you will be okay. He gives you a small glimpse of comfort or happiness or faith so that you can recognize that there will be an end to the numbing season you’re living.

This weekend, the gift that God gave me was that of my family. My family saw my hurt, and they took it upon themselves to take care of me. They listened to me, they helped me get out of the house, and they put aside their own agendas to show me that they were going to love me through it all.

All I can say is, I don’t know how I got so blessed to have my family. It’s rare, and it’s moments like I had with my family this weekend that I will always remember, even when we inevitably hurt one another. And I needed to take a moment to share with you all how blessed I feel. Even in this season of hurting, God is good. Even when you feel numb, God finds a way to break through and love you, just as you are.

But most importantly, God finds a way to use who is around you for your benefit. He puts what you need in their hearts and lets them express that to you. It’s simply wonderful of Him to give us that. It’s a perfect display of His Love for us.

If you’re feeling numb, who around you can you go to for love? Who has God placed in your life to help you through this season? Think and pray really hard about that.

If you’re in a happier season of life, how can you be an example of this kind of love to the people around you today? How can you show someone who is hurting that they are in God’s Hands? How can you use your day to be a messenger of God’s Love?

Keep pushing through, sisters. Contact us here at SheCanLaugh if you are in need of some love today.

Your Laughing Sister,
