The Reason for Our Mission

BIBLICAL POINT OF REFERENCE:

“We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose."

~Romans 8:28

It’s as easy as putting a smile on your face. Instantly, the people around you are also inclined to smile, maybe out of politeness, but also out of intrigue. Why is she in such a good mood? I wonder if I’ll have a good day too.

I don’t witness this kind of behavior all too often. It’s a rare sight in a world that’s caught up in making money and progressing business—neither of which are bad if done with the proper guidance of the Lord. But still, those genuine, happy, joyful attitudes are missing. And I can’t help but feeling it’s because God is missing.

In this mess we’ve made for ourselves of routine and solemn looks, we’ve forgotten to seek God in our daily habits. We’ve forgotten to intentionally include Him in our work, our down time, our drives, our emotions, everything. When we forget to do that, we don’t stand a fighting chance against a world so glum.

That’s what Christ has been calling me to today. He’s calling me to find a reason to go to work happy. Find a reason to treat others with care and joy. Find a reason to stand out and dare others to be joyful as well. Find a reason to believe in the good of the world. It means knowing that everything is going to be okay, because He is the reason. How wonderful is it to know that we can choose to represent Christ in a glorifying and redeeming way?

We need to make people see that there is a reason for why we do what we do. We need to show them that there is another way to live, a way that actually does bring joy. We need to allow ourselves to be brothers and sisters in a Christ with everyone we meet. We need to encourage others to start their days hopeful, and end their days better than they started. That’s our mission.

When we are joyful, we find an inner peace within us because everything is just how it should be; Christ has come to dwell in our spirits and renew His Love in our souls.

People see that. They don’t always know how to put it into words, but they notice the difference and they want it. It’s almost tangible.

And it’s as easy as putting a smile on your face.

Your Laughing Sister,

Callahan
