What SheCanLaugh Means to Me

BIBLICAL POINT OF REFERENCE:
"My God will fully supply whatever you need, in accord with his glorious riches in Christ Jesus."
~Philippians 4:19
I've been struggling with a question that popped into my head a number of weeks ago: What does SheCanLaugh mean to me? Sometimes we loose are way in the midst of something great or something we are passionate about, but we should never loose ourselves or our purpose just because something is exciting. And so I feel that I need to do some evaluating of my purpose for running SheCanLaugh and for the actual bible verse (Proverbs 31:25) that the inspiration for it comes from.
Now I've been praying about this question for these last couple of weeks, and I hadn't been able to come up with a good answer until I was sitting in Mass yesterday listening to our priest during the homily. He told us about trying to become a Resident Assistant at his seminary, and how he had felt entitled to this position because he had worked so hard to earn it. He explained how this sense of entitlement had left him confused on where he was supposed to go in life and what God wanted him to do.
That's when it hit me: I am in the same place right now. Here in college, I am having the same feelings of entitlement and confusion. So where do I go now to find Him? That was my priest's point: How do we find God against the confusion and privileges we assume we have a right to?
So what does SheCanLaugh mean to me?
It means opening my heart to God and His calling for me.
It means understanding that there are days that my strength will be tested, but my dignity will hold out when I reach for Him.
It means I can laugh through God's saving grace.
It means taking away that sense of entitlement to make room for Him in my heart.
And it means finding Him.
This whole journey I am going on is about finding God, and the phrase "she can laugh" is my motto as I travel along this narrow road.
So now it's your turn: What's your journey? What is God calling you to? What is your motivational phrase that keeps you going? Share them in the comments, send them to me, tell each other, and keep the faith my sisters.
Your Laughing Sister,
Callahan
