Who am I today, Lord?

Updated: Mar 14, 2019

BIBLICAL POINT OF REFERENCE:

"So whoever is in Christ is a new creation: the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come."

~2 Corinthians 5:17

Who am I today, Lord?

I can remember a time where I was strong and courageous, a time where I sought adventure and lived life to the fullest.

I can remember moments of pure happiness and complete trust in your plans for me.

And I can remember days where my only care in the world was making sure I stayed true to myself and to you.

But that’s not who I am every day.

I change, I evolve, I learn, and I grow.

I plan, I study, and I try my hardest.

And as my voice becomes stronger, I use my words as a tool and as a weapon, ready to fend off undesirable enemies.

Though I change continuously and am not always the person you want me to be, there is one thing that stays the same…

…I am your daughter.

I fight, I face my fears, and I stand firm in my faith.

I dive headfirst into the unknown waters you have put in front of me, and I swim safely to your shores.

But more importantly, I rise, and I lift my eyes to face you, my Heavenly Father.

And I see your smile, your gentleness, and your love.

Suddenly, I see…

…Today, I am myself, because that is who you have made me.

I am your daughter, as I have always been, despite the flaws, the challenges, and the crosses I bear.

And you want me. You still want me, after all that.

I need not question who I am today, Lord…

…for I am yours, and you have granted me your love.

That is more than enough for me.

Your Laughing Sister,

Callahan
