You Are Appreciated.

Updated: Jan 3, 2019

BIBLICAL POINT OF REFERENCE:

"I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

~John 13:34-35

Appreciation is a human need. We need to feel as though what we are doing with our lives and who we are with in our lives is right and good, and is appreciated by those around us. When we have a lack of appreciation in our lives, we may seek attention, or we may turn to the wrong people and the wrong methods of finding happiness. We may become envious of others who get the appreciation we feel we deserve, and we may lash out at our loved ones because of it.

There are times where we all feel that we don’t get appreciated enough for the work we do, the stress we handle, and the decency we have in our hearts. And when we don’t get that appreciation, it feels personal. It feels like we must be doing something wrong because everyone should and would notice if we were doing something worth their appreciation. Yet people stay silent, and we go on not feeling appreciated.

So enough is enough. Listen to me, my sisters, because there is something extremely important I have to tell you.

You. Are. Enough. You are appreciated. You are worth it. You are strong. You are brave. You are a daughter of THE King. And anyone who doesn’t recognize that and doesn’t tell you that isn’t trying to hurt you—they just may be going through the same thoughts you are. And they may not feel like they are appreciated either.

It’s so easy for us to lose sight of God’s warmth and love for us, and when we have a bit of a broken connection with him, we struggle to feel the appreciation that he gives us on a daily basis. But the truth is, he gives us his appreciation whether we feel it or not.

So when you don’t feel appreciated, let me tell you that I appreciate you. All of the saints and angels appreciate you. Mary, Queen of Heaven, appreciates you, and her most beloved Son, Jesus, appreciate you too. God, in his infinite power and loving guidance, appreciates your whole being, because he made you, and you are good.

Look to the heavens when you feel unappreciated, my sisters. Look up, and know your worth in God.

Your Laughing Sister,

Callahan
